When Fajr Starts and Ends in Faisalabad
Fajr begins at true dawn, called subh-e-sadiq, when a band of white light spreads along the eastern horizon. Astronomers place that moment when the sun is 18° below the horizon, and it is the time shown above for Faisalabad. Fajr ends at sunrise. Today the window runs from 4:46 AM to 6:07 AM, which is 1 hour 21 minutes.
The Prophet ﷺ described it this way: “The time of Fajr is from the appearance of dawn as long as the sun has not risen” (Sahih Muslim 612). In Faisalabad the Fajr window never falls below 1 hour 20 minutes, in late February, and stretches to 1 hour 40 minutes around 21 June.
In the Hanafi school, if the sun rises while you are still praying the two fard rakats, that prayer does not count. It has to be made up once the sun is fully up. So start with enough time to finish calmly, and do not leave Fajr to the last few minutes before sunrise.
How Fajr Time Changes Through the Year
Fajr in Faisalabad moves by more than two hours across the year. The earliest Fajr comes around 9 June at 3:24 AM, and the latest around 7 January at 5:42 AM. In June you may need an alarm before 3:30 AM; in winter, 5:30 AM is still in time. Check the time every few days rather than keeping one fixed alarm all season.
Fajr Jamaat Times in Faisalabad Masjids
The times on this page are beginning times, the earliest moment the prayer becomes due. Masjids hold the jamaat later. Many Hanafi masjids in Faisalabad pray Fajr once the sky has lightened, following the hadith: “Pray Fajr when the light has spread, for it brings a greater reward” (Jami’ at-Tirmidhi 154). Ahl-e-Hadith masjids usually pray closer to the start time. Your own masjid’s notice board has its exact jamaat time.
Fajr and Sehri in Ramadan
In Ramadan, eating and drinking must stop when Fajr begins. That is why sehri ends at the Fajr start time, not at the azan you hear from the masjid, which is often called a few minutes later. Our Ramadan timetable shows sehri one minute before Fajr as a safety margin. See today’s sehri and iftar time in Faisalabad for the full month.
Ishraq Time After Fajr
Ishraq is a voluntary prayer of two or four rakats offered once the sun has risen clear of the horizon. In Faisalabad today it can be prayed from 6:22 AM until 9:01 AM. Do not start it right at sunrise: praying while the sun is rising is one of the three times the Prophet ﷺ forbade prayer (Sahih Muslim 831). Ishraq begins about 15 minutes after sunrise for that reason.
Jami’ at-Tirmidhi (586) records a hadith that whoever prays Fajr in congregation, stays remembering Allah until the sun rises, and then prays two rakats, receives a reward like that of Hajj and Umrah.
How Many Rakats Are in Fajr?
Fajr has four rakats in total: two sunnah mu’akkadah first, then two fard. The two sunnah are the most stressed sunnah of the day. The Prophet ﷺ said, “The two rakats of Fajr are better than this world and everything in it” (Sahih Muslim 725). If you reach the masjid late, pray the sunnah first if there is still time to join the fard.
Why Some Websites Show a Different Fajr Time
You may find Faisalabad timetables online that put Fajr around 14 minutes later than this page. On 10 October 2026, for example, some showed 5:00 AM where this page shows 4:46 AM. They calculate dawn at 15° instead of the 18° used by the University of Islamic Sciences, Karachi, the standard method in Pakistan. A later Fajr time is risky in Ramadan, because sehri would end too late. This page uses 18° for Faisalabad (31.4167° N, 73.0833° E) in Pakistan Standard Time.
Fajr and Isha: The Two Prayers Worth Guarding
Fajr and Isha are the two prayers people miss most, because one cuts into sleep and the other comes at the end of a long day. The Prophet ﷺ said, “Whoever prays Isha in congregation, it is as if he prayed half the night. And whoever prays Fajr in congregation, it is as if he prayed the whole night” (Sahih Muslim 656). He also said that whoever prays Fajr is under the protection of Allah (Sahih Muslim 657). If you are building the habit, check tonight’s Isha time in Faisalabad too, and sleep early enough to wake for Fajr.
